SUMMARY: As an Engineer / Sr. Engineer, you will support the business unit (sales and engineering) promoting ASE IC packaging technology, assembly, and EMS PCB SMT capability, working with ASE customer to support new product introduction, and working with ASE factory engineering teams to maintain production yield, solving field related application issues. Working with customer to understand and support their product roadmap requirements, maintain ASE leadership position in the semiconductor market.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned:

• Working with customers & factory teams on NPI (New product introduction), support different phases of qualification and production ramp up.

• Collaboration with factory & customers in troubleshooting field related issues, maintain quality of existing packages for all product groups.

• Support new package and process qualification programs together with customer & factory engineering team. Define DOEs for new material selection, risk assessment, process optimization.

• Collaborates with R&D groups for new technology & industry requirements and able to support/present technology promotions to customers.

• Ability to work with cross function teams inside and outside of ASE, to help customer developing product to gain market share with ASE.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: ASE requires a BS degree in engineering or related fields experience with 8+ years of experience in semiconductor. A strong understanding of 5+ years of experience in IC Packaging design rules and assembly process. Experience SMT process and EMS environment are major plus for the position. Knowledge in semiconductor product development from design, characterization, qualification, test, and failure analysis. Familiar with reliability testing and methodology, failure analysis principles and techniques. Familiar with System Level & ATE testing methodology and bench testing equipment. Package and system level thermal, mechanical, and electrical experiences are major plus. Good team player. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisor responsibility but must be able to organize and work with cross functional team inside ASE, and with customer to accomplish the program objective.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Fluent in English and good communication skills are required, fluency in both English and Chinese is required.

COMPUTER/SOFTWARE SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE: Proficient in Word, Excel, and Power Point. MS Outlook, Cadence package design, layout tool experience, are a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must have basic math skills.
