Location: Austin, TX



We are looking for CPU research interns. The candidate will participate in research on various topics from the architecture and microarchitecture innovations to the workload characterization. The interns will have opportunities to collaborate with senior CPU architects and researchers to publish research results at top-tier computer conferences. The individual will be assigned to one of the following areas, but not limited to, based on the experiences and skill sets:


  • Core architecture and microarchitecture
  • Memory system architecture
  • Interconnection and coherence
  • Emerging workloads
  • System architecture and SOC
  • Co-processor and accelerator


  • Master or PhD students in computer engineering, computer science or related fields
  • Understanding of computer architecture and microarchitecture including the out-of-order execution and the pipeline design
  • Strong C++ and object-oriented programming skills
  • Hands-on experience in CPU architecture/micro-architecture performance modeling with architecture simulators such as GEM5 (plus)
  • Experience with script languages such as Python (plus)
  • Research experience in publishing conference or journal papers in the computer architecture or related fields (plus)
  • Experience in workload generation using open-source compilers and tools (plus)
  • Knowledge of the architecture trend and emerging workloads (plus)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter, who can deliver independently as well as in a team environment
