Last Saturday (Oct 7th), CASPA had a full-day annual conference and dinner banquet event celebrating its 32th birthday. It has been 4 years since we hosted an in-person annual conference. In the morning, we held a startup pitch session with 10 startups competing for three best-pitch awards. Thanks all the judges: Richard Curtin from Silicon Catalyst, Sue Xu from Amino Capital, Stanley D. and Vince. It’s truly heartwarming to see so many familiar and new faces gathered again – in person – after what has been a transformative three years of virtual interactions.

Our theme this year, “Empower AI – How Semiconductor Shapes the Future of the World,” couldn’t be more fitting since ChatGPT brought the IPhone moment to our industry last year. AI is everywhere and these exciting AI innovations bring challenges to software & hardware infrastructure in terms of computation, memory and interconnections. The semiconductor industry plays a key role in addressing these challenges.

As the chair of the annual conference and the MC of the afternoon session, I feel fortunate to have Nvidia VP John Chen, Professor Kunle Olukotun, Rambus Fellow Steven Woo, ARM SVP Dipti Vachani and Google Deepmind Cliff Young to gave five keynote speeches. In the panel session, thanks ARM VP Chloe Jian Ma to host the panel with five technology executives Li ZhengNing Ge, Ph.D., MBAHao ZhongWeifeng Zhang and Bin Fan to cover light and in-memory computing, computational storage, advanced packaging and data infra for AI.
