What is critical infrastructure, the current state of the US infrastructure? What is a future ‘smart infrastructure’.
Talk Abstract:
The US infrastructure is old (built in the 1950’s) and crumbling, whether it’s bridges that are falling down, or roads that are filled with potholes and under permanent repair. Most recently (March 2021) we saw serious power and water line issues affecting the whole state of Texas.
In June of 2020 the Democratic-controlled House approved a $1.5 trillion plan to rebuild the nation’s crumbling infrastructure, to fix roads and bridges, upgrade transit systems, expand interstate railways and dredge harbors, ports and channels, and revamp the US post office. This will create millions of jobs towards economic recovery from the devastating Covid-19 pandemic.
In this webinar Dr. Kao will present what is critical infrastructure, the various types of infrastructure; then discuss the current state of the US infrastructure, and finally discuss a move towards a future ‘smart infrastructure’ .
